Teacher to Teacher Connection

For a direct link to a teacher that has participated in past Great Lakes Student Summits,
please contact
recycle@erie.gov for more information.

Past Student Projects have included some of the following:

  • Trash to treasure - students created various items from things that were going to be tossed, i.e. a pillow case out of old/too small soccer jerseys, a coat rack out of old hockey sticks.
  • Fish models - clay 3-D models of fish found in the Great Lakes.
  • Display - using a "3-fold" board students shared the history on environmental law related to the Great Lakes.
  • Power Point Presentations - basic info on exotic species.

Past Student Presentations have included some of the following:

  • Timeline - students shared the history of the Lakes and two futures - what the Lakes would be like if nothing was done, what the Lakes may be like with intervention.
  • Great Lakes Hustle: students danced the Hustle while signing about the Great Lakes.
  • Skit: students wrote and acted out a newscast on the importance of recycling.
